Menswear Spring/Summer 2012 - Wednesday June 23

Day Four - Paris

Mugler

Paris Men's Fashion Week got underway on Wednesday (June 23) opening with Mugler. The “new” Mugler man was fierce, as well as colourful on the catwalk. The show began with warrior models dressed in gold armour, sequinned tops and super-super-tight leather shorts. Then Mugler men became sporty with cycling short and tops in neon green, orange and purple. Creative director Nicola Formichetti referenced gay porn into his second men’s collection for the label. The gold armour and visors suggested classical Gods, while still being practical with details such as zips on suits. Stonewashed denim was reminiscent of the bad taste of the 1980s and tight neon-lycra brought us back to the 1990s. The lycra was even a tad star-warsesque as the models looked like soilders.

Not to worry there is more to come from Paris on day five and six.

Au revoir!!
