Menswear Spring/Summer 2012 - Sunday June 19

Day Two - Milan
PRADA
Men's fashion embraced sports for spring/summer 2012 in Milan, with Prada using golf as a starting point for its latest menswear offering.  Just as Prada kicked off their $2 billion-plus public offering in Hong Kong, Prada released a golf-themed men’s wear collection. Whilst cheeky not many in the crowd seem to like the theme – boldly WWD said “it fell shy of a hole-in-one”. I have to agree the prints were NOT pretty.
The Astroturf field was lit like a stadium and the men weaved through a grid of blue foam cubes, which served as seating for the 600 fashionistas. Before the show, Miuccia Prada told WWD she wanted to deliver a carefree, happy and youthful collection. The Fifties themed colour scheme, cartoon prints and the floral golf bags were fun and appeared aimed solely at the type of guy who intends to be snapped by street bloggers outside fashion shows. However the terrific suits in English checks or track jackets in suiting fabrics and chunky shoes decked out with neon cleats and kilties are the type of items that makes Prada a fashion POWER house.

Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood continued the sporting theme by covering T-shirts with Olympic torch motifs. Laurel headbands and bold prints of torches and medals splashed on T-shirts revealed a Greek Olympian theme including tailored looks, shorts and fire red shoes. The gelled hair was just so sleek and clean... it does make the models look quite refined. The low crutched suits were made out of the finest raw silk. I love how the suits were styled with bright belts on the grey suits – they just popped! The collection was very STREET... It was one of my favourite collections and one that I could see my self styling DJs from around the world.

Vivienne is the EPITOME of "TO COOL FOR SCHOOL" - I love her!!!

Another day another parade... More Milano in the next post!

A presto!
