Menswear Spring/Summer 2012 - Saturday June 18

Day One - Milan

Burberry Prorsum
Burberry Prorsum may be the front runner of all things digital in the luxury sector, but this season it’s all about an old-fashioned approach. “I wanted to celebrate the idea of craftsmanship,” Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s chief creative officer told WWD. “I love the whole digital world, but it’s wrong to think you can’t have one without the other.” Bailey’s vision was obvious; his collection wouldn’t be out of place at a summer music festival. He took classic outerwear pieces, like the trench, sweater and jacket of which he put a fresh spin with raffia fringing, detachable beaded and crocheted collars, mosaic-like appliqués, and natural wood toggles. The arts and crafts theme was also visible in the block printed fabric for coat linings, trousers, and shirts. The hottest accessory on the Burberry runway was hand-woven raffia caps. This seasons Burberry man will be not be missed in the crowds of the hottest music festivals.

Dolce & Gabbana
Domenico and Stefano were inspired by the Italian Riviera as the core material of this collection was the fisherman’s net, which the designers worked into everything from rough-edged cotton jackets to boiler suits and athletic shorts. These two men have been twittering up a storm lately, especially Stefano who has obviously chosen taken inspiration from his recent trips to Capri. Domenico and Stefano have also thrilled their twitter followers with photos of their gorgeous male models at recent photo shoots.

From the beginning the designers knew they wanted to experiment with tailored clothing. "It's about researching — and rediscovering - the potential of tailored clothing," said Stefano Gabbana to WWD. The D&G boys cuffed formal trousers and the majority of them were rolled up past the ankle. The fresh looking long and lean formal jackets were collarless while other jackets were crafted to include a double lapel.

Roberto Cavalli
Daniele Cavalli has the BEYOND PERFECT idea of summer: the Riviera, beautiful women, falling in love and unwinding in front of a glass of Prosecco. Seductive designs are hereditary in the Cavalli household as the father and son team collaborated to create this striking and BEYOND BRIGHT collection.  Handsome and tanned, the models oozed confidence, dressed in elegant, slim suits in jacquards or vibrant striped cotton. The Cavalli family love Leather and suede and this time it was used for blazers and jackets that were worn with skinny pants with a slight bootleg.

I love the Cavalli famiglia...They make the flamboyant look like the usual Italian style!
I LOVE the magenta suits...

There is more of Milano to come...

Ciao!
