Jean Paul Gaultier - Spring/Summer 2012 – Couture - Paris

Jean Paul Gaultier

up close and behind the scenes...

Jean Paul Gaultier dedicated his spring/summer 2012 haute couture to the colourful and delightful Amy Winehouse.  Looks entitled “Brit Award”, “Victoria’s Secret In My Bag” and “Love Is a Losing Game” were worn by girls with tall, strapped-up beehives and the late singer’s trademark Forties mole styled with her unmistakable flicked-up eyeliner and shiny sky-high wedges.

Gaultier’s style was still honored with his signature corsetry, unexpected colours and his ability to famously border on the edge of good taste but miraculously maintain brilliance.

Long sequined jackets were teamed with lady girdle shorts and beautiful corsetry edged in scarlet on sheer tulle. Another back-to-front polo shirt dress appeared in ivory sequins, another lace evening gown in fluorescent orange, which Fergie wore. Then as the show came to a wrap the models appeared in lace veils.

“He really loves ideas and he’s so clever at gelling them altogether,” said Vogue’s Harriet Quick. “Couture gives him the space to really explore all the details and let his imagination run riot. It was Amy’s diva, rockabilly and Camden girls sensibilities all brilliantly mixed.”

I am so glad I found this post and eventually posted it because it was honestly one of my favourite JPG collections EVER!!!

Bon Soir...
