DSQUARED² - A/W 2012-2013 – Menswear - Milan

Dsquared²

The Double D brothers have presented a collection that is the personification of cool and quite cheeky to say the least with a name like “Naughty students or Bad Teachers?”….

The collection was inspired by uni students; in fact, it was inspired by that specific kind of student that comes from a ‘good family’ with a ‘bad reputation’. D2 intended to ensure the male models were personifying extreme but still fashion forward party boys from high society families, these young men are supposedly foul-mouthed and are only dedicated to having a good time on the weekend… These boys dedicate more time to their wardrobe rather than attending class, however, this doesn’t matter one bit since they are guaranteed a pass because they assume money buys them anything.

The Dsquared² ‘cool boy’ has the confidence to carry off an original style and easily wear very low-waist slim cut trousers, which are tighter than ever especially around the knee with a little bell bottom. Dean and Dan continue to constrict the male form with slim fit jackets and just when you thought slim silhouettes was the only a female design element the boys would bring to this collection, they shock us again by including ‘layering’. Layers on top of layers on top of layers… Perhaps to fight the cold European winter or perhaps because it looks AMAZING how the D brothers have styled it for men.
The theatrics of the show intensified the bad boy persona. Cigarettes in hand – ala Moss in the Vuitton show – with poise like Chuck Bass, the models strutted down the runway carrying off the heavily embellished jackets like a regular jet setter.
The new Dsquared² bag line debuted along side this new smart casual look. The D2 man has always been strong and that's why the designers decided to create a distinct bag line true to the Dsquared² brand motto: “Born in Canada, Made in Italy”. The new bags feature the most luxurious fabrics inside and out with specially designed tailoring for the modern man including double pockets for Blackberry’s (representing each of the designers) and spaces for iPads to slide in.

fino a domani.... xoxo
