Couture Season - Alexandre Vauthier - Spring/Summer 2012 – Couture - Paris

Alexandre Vauthier

Alexandre Vauthier may not be a name you have heard many times but it is about time you took a moment to get to know him. The Spring/Summer 2012 Couture collection that he presented in Paris is definitely enough reason to pay attention to this amazing gentleman.
The collection included his highly recognisable draped tailoring, sharp silhouettes, a combination of textures from fur to leather and even sequins. I loved his radically cut gold jewellery and monochromatic colour palette of mainly black and white.
Here is a bit more information on this freak of nature... that I am sure you will only want more from.
Alexandre began his career in the design studio of Thierry Mugler, where he learnt from the master how to perfectly construct a garment. A few years later, he joined Jean Paul Gaultier where he was Head Designer of the Couture collection for eight years. This incredible experience boosted his confidence in creating his own collection; where he could honestly articulate his personal style.
Alexandre has drawn inspirations from his visits to Japan and the USA, which is obvious in his designs as the combination of vintage French and modern Japanese aesthetics makes his collection so distinctive when he launched it in 2009.
His endless natural talent, his eagerness to be precise, his devotion to radical cuts and efforts to express himself through his French inspired style is simply brilliant.
Fashion media across the world have fallen in love with this talented man, which has drawn couture clients from across the globe and a bevy of international celebrities who are dying to wear his pieces. Just recently Alicia Keys wore a piece specifically designed for her to the Grammys and looked stunning. I even featured her in my best dressed list.
This year Alexandre’s creative genius has extended to a ready-to-wear collection, costumes, perfume, music and interior design.

I hope you have fallen in love with him as much as I have....
Bon soir!
