Amanda Seyfried certainly looked like a lead actress in this dark midnight-blue
hue. Amanda’s Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2013 stunner was unlike anything else seen at
the SAGS. The fitted design cascaded with tiered layers, which forged into a
fabulous trail behind her. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! LOVE THE COLOUR, LOVE THE
STRUCTURE, LOVE THE CHOICE!!! BEST DRESSED = 10/10
Nicole Kidman is moving up the fashion stakes in leaps and bounds as shocked me
in this beautiful Vivienne Westwood Couture midnight blue gown. Covered in
floral appliqués, the stunning creation also featured a thigh-high slit. Even
though some may say Nicole is wearing a different version of the same
sleeveless column gown, this is one of my favourite. Nic looked so fresh faced
with her perfect make-up and sleek straight hair. Love the complete look = 9/10
Anne Hathaway just keeps getting better and better. Best of all she knows how
to time the appropriateness of her gowns. This stunning black tulle Giambattisa
Valli Couture gown came right off the runway from Paris this week, and made the
‘Les Miserables’ actress look pretty
without being too girlie, and sophisticated and polished without being mature = 9/10
Jennifer Garner certainly stole the spotlight from her award winning husband Ben
Affleck. The actress turned up the glamour on the red carpet, wearing a gold
intricately embroidered strapless Oscar de la Renta gown = 9/10
You would not
have known Marion Cotillard was
sick, as the brand ambassador for Christian Dior was radiant in this ball gown.
The flash of the white strapless bodice, which was contrasted with
midnight-blue satin skirt and tied sash, in my eyes was magnificent. Even
though the coral runway version was a little younger, I think the navy worked
nicely for Marion = 9/10
Naomi Watts is just getting better and better in the fashion stakes, she was a
vision in the perfect Marchesa strapless gown with silver metallic embroidery and
crystal embellishments = 9/10
Modern
Family’ starlet Sarah Hyland was a
vision in violet in a strapless, purple Dolce & Gabbana gown rendered in an
abstractly printed fabric. Rarely do you see print on a red carpet, let alone a
print done welL = 8 ½ /10
Nina Dobrev popped in this hot-pink Elie Saab gown… She looked flawless in this
sleek number, which include some subtle sexy cutouts and a monochromatic thin
belt = 8/10
Claire Danes again rocked her BEYOND amazing post-baby body in a
one-shouldered black and white Givenchy gown. The asymmetrical art
deco-inspired embellishment down the side from hip to hemline took the gown
from cute to Couture = 8/10
Fellow Dior
ambassador Jennifer Lawrence wore
more recent Christian Dior design, as her midnight blue Couture gown featured
on the Paris runway just days ago. Jennifer’s was slightly altered to be wider
around the bottom of the legs, with the addition of the train also… You would
think this would make it easier for her to walk in, but as she got up to accept
her award she did struggle… All the same, I loved the choice… So stunning… It
is quite obvious that ‘midnight blue’ is the colour of choice for the evening = 8/10
Lea Michele looks every bit the fashionista in this fashion forward Valentino
gown. I love how she carried this beautiful creation of art. I was very glad we
didn’t get a flash of her leg in the usual thigh-high slit she chooses but I
would have preferred her to get rid of her two toned hair… A full brunette look
would have made this look complete = 8/10
Jessica Chastain kept to the theme of colour from the Golden Globes with this red
Alexander McQueen gown. The sweetheart neckline gave her a sexy silhouette, but
what topped off her glamorous classic look with Harry Winston jewels = 7.5/10
Naya Rivera opted for a Donna Karan Atelier design that showed off her figure
with a mermaid silhouette and peekaboo sheer panel. The gown featured also beautifully
delicate silk pleats = 7/10
Julianne Moore wore Chanel Couture Fall 2011 gown which I barely recognised. The
plunging neckline was something I certainly didn’t remember from the runway,
and the thick silk kept folding forward awkwardly. I remembered the adorable
sweet floral appliqués at the bottom and that was my favourite part of look = 5/10
January Jones took a HUGE risk with this black and white Prabal Gurung look. The
shorter cocktail-style dress was transformed from its original runway look with
the addition of a longer skirt – but to tell you the truth I preferred the
shorter look. I know she was trying to follow the formality of the SAGS but she
is young, she is fashion forward, she could have carried it off perfectly. The
addition of length, together with the napkin-like neckline and pompous hair
made her look so old
= 4/10
Julianna Margulies strutted in wearing a two-toned Chado Ralph Rucci dress. The alternating
colours of the bodice, skirt and hemline, was a huge fashion risks as it wasn’t
the most flattering or age appropriate. The beehive hairstyle didn’t work
either = 3/10
Rose Byrne, my dear aussie friend, WTF… I love Valentino, I love his florals
and his ruffles but not for an awards show like the SAGS. Oh hunny, why…?! The
print is too big, the look is to day time, and you are attending an award show
where actors are recognising fellow actors. This look makes me take her less
serious… Majorly disappointed = 2/10 – The
two is only because it is Valentino and I love VALE but oh so not right for the
SAGS.
All in all, this read carpet was more fashion forward than the Golden Globes and not as glam as the Oscars will be but it was ohh soo gorgeous... Only a few more weeks and the biggest carpet of the all will be on offer...
A dopo... Luciana xoxo
