From when I can remember I have been memorised by bridal couture. My mum worked in bridal from before I was born, so I grew up around bridal designs and fabric samples as she made every brides dream come true with their perfect dress.
I have
always associated bridal with Haute Couture, and Haute Couture with bridal.
Every season I look at the designs which come down the runways in Paris and I
analyse which would look best in white. Elie Saab, Christian Dior, Versace and
Valentino are shows I never miss and am never disappointed by.

These days
the world’s best designers have the opportunity to showcase their best bridal couture
with Bridal Fashion Week twice a year... Marchesa and the queen of bridal couture
Vera Wang are always favourites of mine.

Australia
isn’t short of amazing Haute Couture designers and for many years I have wished
bridal couture shows were included in Australian Fashion Week. Finally the
Adelaide Fashion Festival has included a bridal fashion show in their program
with the ‘Bridal Runway Fusion’.
This
Tuesday, October 23, the Thebarton Theatre will be host to a showcase of the
latest in bridal couture. 12 leading designers, including my dear friend Paul
Vasilef of Paolo Sebastian, will unveil their luxurious fashion. To be honest, even though he is a dear friend,
I believe Paul is one of the most talented designers in Australia, let alone
South Australia, and I am sure he will prove me right once again on Tuesday...
If you haven’t
got your ticket yet for this show make sure you purchase them fast before they
are all sold out. The team at Brides of Adelaide have worked very hard to put
this show together for the first time, so for all the Bride’s-to-be, or those
like me who just appreciate bridal couture, I will see you Tuesday night.
Ciao!
