The first real Hollywood red carpet certainly started with a bang,
as the best of the best gathered in LA...
Bradley
Cooper was one of the first to hit the red carpet and he always leaves a
lasting impression. I love a man in black tie suit and Bradley is certainly the
best dressed man of the night in Tom Ford - hands down.
Another gentleman who you couldn’t miss was the one and only, Hugh Jackman… When I saw Les Miserables
I knew he was worthy of the Golden Globe and certainly the Oscar for best actor… The
man is beyond talented, and we can’t deny how good he looks in a tux.
Hayden Panettiere wore
a blush pink Roberto Cavalli gown with intricate ruched detailing and a classic
mermaid fit. The
nominated ‘Nashville’ actress went au naturel with sleek, extension-less hair
and barely-there makeup, which gives an air of effortless-ness to her entire
look.
The
statuesque Nicole Kidman walked on
the dark side with her regal and dramatic Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 gown. The
gown, embellished with bronze studs at the neckline, was edgy with its solid panels and a littlewith see-through mesh middle.
Fred
Leighton jewels, including bangles and a large cocktail ring, completed the
look.
Thankfully,
Nicole wore her hair curled in a far softer, more flattering style than we’ve
seen of late.
Anne Hathaway
brought all of her starlet glamour to the Globes red carpet, as the ‘Les
Miserables’ actress found inspiration from a few seasons ago with her angelic Chanel
Couture gown from Spring 2009. The dress was still fresh and sophisticated with
its slightly flared, peplum top and structured column skirt, all crystallised
with subtle embellishment.
Delicate
bracelets and studs from Chanel Fine Jewellery didn’t complicate this glamour
girl’s look. J’adore the fact she didn’t add anything around her neck, it didn’t need
it and she looks one hundred times better for it… Plus she’s still pulling off
her chic pixie cut with grace.
‘Skyfall’
songstress Adele is still flaunting
her new-mom glow on the red carpet at the Globes since having her first child.
Adele shone in a black, boat neck Burberry number with lace detail and a
bracelet sleeve; it was nothing if not sophisticated. Apparently, Christopher
made her gown in a week.
While
the overall look could have been a bore for such a bold personality, she pumped
it up with sparkling Cartier jewels and sizzling red, talon-shaped nails.
Katharine McPhee
strutted with confidence in a black satin Theyskens’ Theory Spring 2013 gown.
The
‘Smash’ star accented her seductive ensemble with subtle bangles, a structured clutch, and sexy sky-high heels.
I
love that Katharine is stepping away from her wholesome ‘American Idol’ roots
and flaunting her fabulous figure. A high messy bun, nude lips and smoky eye
make this look a true stunner.
Kate Hudson
channelled her inner drama queen as she covered up in a black Alexander McQueen
with long sleeves and a slight train. The flash of skin came into play
with a significant keyhole-shaped detail.
The
look was Victorian and vampy with its gold leaf embellishment at the waist and the intense metallic
collar piece, although unfortunately Kate’s long blonde locks covered much of
it and muted the impact – would have preferred her hair up…
Jessica Chastain is
a doll, literally she looks porcelain… The Best Actress Nominee opted for a
sea-foam Calvin Klein gown. The backless halter gown shone alongside her sparkling
Harry Winston jewels. Her
flame-red hair will forever be a gorgeous colour, especially with any shade of
blue or green.
The
nominated Zooey Deschanel wore a
glamorous red Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013 gown with a voluminous skirt. While
the dress is undeniably gorgeous, this is certainly not the first time we’ve
seen this silhouette on Zooey.
Pearls
on her neck and wrist, plus a bouffant ponytail, only add to the 1950′s vibe.
It is never a Deschanel look if it’s not complete with nail art, for this event
it was Film-inspired.
Nicole Richie is
impeccable in the Naeem Khan Spring 2013 pale blue floral embroidered and
beaded jewel neckline gown. If this was not her best red carpet look ever, then
it’s in the top two.
The
‘Fashion Star’ judge wisely opted for long sleeves, styling her look with a
House of Harlow fringed bag, waves, stud earrings and flawless makeup completed
her look.
Amy Adams stunned
in a blush-coloured, mermaid Marchesa gown. While the colour choice is pretty,
Adams does look a tad washed out. If this dress was a few hues darker, it might
have been a grand slam, as opposed to merely the home run that it is. Plus I love
the loose, finger-waved hair falling in front of one of her eyes.
Naomi Watts
took my breathe away in this body-hugging Zac Posen gown in the hottest colour
of the season: oxblood. Even though she remained covered in long sleeves, she
still exudes an extraordinary amount of sex appeal thanks to strategically
placed cut-outs.
This
made to measure Tom Ford gown looked meticulous on Julianne Moore at the Globes. Julianne’s minimalist look was
perfect with the bold black and white palette. The streamlined silhouette was
cut to showcase curves, and it revealed a little skin with a draped open back.
She topped off her sleek look with a magnificent pair of chandelier earrings, gold bracelets, and a gold and black embossed box clutch.
Jennifer Lawrence
has definitely catapulted to Hollywood star and as the new face of Dior she
carried herself well in this Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture gown. The
metallic belt made this gown a little younger and more modern for the starlet… Only thing is cone-bra-inspired bodice, not completely sold on it…
Eva Longoria
made a rather dramatic entrance as she wore an intense black Emilio Pucci, custom-designed
for her. The
lace bodice and chiffon-layered skirt flaunted all of her curves, with its
provocatively placed slit in the front, a cut-out back and a nearly hip-high
slit at the side.
However,
even with all that skin, the dress seemed a little heavy for her small frame…
With
George Clooney on her arm, Stacy Keibler arrived looking every bit
the bombshell. While George is the perfect accessory, she complemented her
"arm candy" with a black strapless Armani Privé gown, which
apparently was "hot off a plane from Paris." After bragging, when you
take a double look, if it wasn’t for George, you could mistake Stacy for a
trophy girl.
Halle Berry wore
a one-shouldered Atelier Versace Fall 2012 gown with an abstract pink pattern
to this year’s Globes… Bringing back the ‘Angelina’ leg just in time for awards
season, Halle showed off her toned bod with a thigh-high slit.
Berry
was slightly underwhelming in this gown, obviously the dress is stunning (as
seen on the runway – and how can’t it be when it is Versace) but it doesn’t WOW
me on Berry.
Jennifer Lopez
was a presenter at the Globes but she wasn’t very impressive…. It wasn’t an ugly
Zuhair Murad gown, it just didn’t work with her figure. It
feels too nude and not right for such a classy event. All the same her hair and
makeup are flawless, as expected.
Taylor Swift seems
to be getting more attention for her relationships than her work and I don’t
think she deserves much attention for this fashion choice. Following
her gorgeous appearance at the People’s Choice Award, where she wore a
beautiful white Donna Karan Atelier gown, I don’t know how this is by the same
designer… Unbelievable…
The
taffeta gown and heavy train wasn’t good at all… The dark-plum colour is
something we haven’t yet seen on Taylor, and hopefully never again. It isn’t the
right colour against her pasty skin. Not happy Jan… She can look so much better…
Obviously, there were a lot of HITS but unfortunately a few that MISSED the mark... However, all in all the Golden Globe is a good indication of what to come for the 2013 awards season, and it would be an understatement for me to say I AM EXCITED!!! Can't wait for the Oscar's...
Ciao! Luciana xoxo
