The crème de la crème of music’s elite gathered
together last week at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for one of the biggest music
events “The 2012 Billboard Music Awards”. Whilst honoring the music talent
which has topped the most recognised chart in the industry, the awards show was
all about HUGE performances by the BIGGEST names in the industry, including
Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Chris Brown, and new comer Carly Rae Jepsen. The
night also included touching tributes to Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Beastie
Boys’ Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch and while guests were entering the white carpet they
were told of the tragic passing of Bee Gees legend Robin Gibbs.
In addition of showing off their vocal
skills, these amazing artists hit all the high notes on the white carpet as
well. I’ve rounded up my favorite looks from the energetic event.
Zooey Deschanel wore a
'60s-inspired Moschino dress that made her hair pop. I loved her statement orange
lipstick and the adorable beehive hairstyle added to her cute mod vibe.
Taylor Swift was honoured on the stage but
deserved great honours on the red carpet... VAVAVOOOOOOM.... The gorgeous red
Elie Saab was a slightly darker and
sexier vibe that worked PERFECTLY!
Alicia Keys’ curve-hugging black Azzedine Alaia
gown was extremely elegant in its simplicity paired with her Brian Atwood heels.
Her modern braid and bright lipstick added an element of fun. Alicia was determined to stand out
among her peers with her diamond ear cuff earrings had everyone talking
as she walked the white carpet. The stunning Repossi cuffs retail for a cool
$5,000 were on full display and certainly stood out.
Jordin Sparks' Diane Von
Furstenberg dress was a bit on the demure side but she looked great in it!
Sparkly jewelry and barely-there heels gave the look a slightly more formal
feel.
Is the no-pants thing back? Miley Cyrus wore a Jean Paul Gaultier blazer and heels last night. That's it! I
don’t mind the colour of her hair but the blow wave didn’t blow me in the right
direction. I would have preferred a sleek pony or extensions and a sleek long
look. Shoes were a bit off as well...
Katy Perry owned the
spring's pastel colour trend in a sequined gown by Bluemarine. Katy always
manages to make out-there styling choices and still look timeless and glamorous.
Brandy is certainly due
for a killer comeback and this dress is a good way to start! Brandy
rocked it in Herve Leger by Max Azria and the curls were ultra mod.
Last but certainly not least, Julianne Hough may not be the most well known starlet on
the white carpet but she grabbed my attention in the simple but gorgeous Kaufman Franco
dress with Nicholas
Kirkwood heels and H. Stern jewelry. Watch out for her in the Rock of Ages blockbuster
due out later this year.
