VERSACE for H&M

Versace per tutti.... Versace for everyone...

From when I can remember Gianni Versace has been my ultimate fashion icon. The Italian designer opened my eyes to the world of fashion and taught me to have the confidence to wear what felt comfortable – whether it was my bright red bowling shoes at the age of 8 or my vast collection of leather vests, skirts and jackets...

Versace is synonymous with sex & glamour. Owning a piece of Versace is considered utmost prestige, even if it is only a t-shirt with "VERSACE" written across the chest. Yes, the t-shirt would be a status symbol, but it is worth more in people's eyes because it is Versace. Gianni Versace's collections and vision in the nineties were so outstanding that even today you will instantly recognise a Versace piece from that era.

I remember where I was the day I heard he had been shot. On that day I made a promise to forever honour the legacy he created in VERSACE!! Whether it is led by Donatella, Allegra or Santo – VERSACE to me is the pinnacle of ITALIAN FASHION.

However.... I was concerned about what the fashion industry would be like if he were still alive, or in what direction Versace would develop with him still at the helm. We will never know, but 14 years after his death, the designer will be honoured for his contribution to the world.

The Versace for H&M collection (released Nov17, will be sold in 300 stores worldwide) is inspired by Donatella Versace's favourite pieces from the Versace archives. Through the collection as well as advertising, the spirit of Versace will reach millions of people all over the world.

This is a great opportunity to bring the best of GIANNI VERSANCE back to a younger generation and ignite the VERSACE fire inside NEW VERSACE admirers. For those of us who are familiar with the history of Versace it is an emotional look back on the legacy Gianni left behind. For this reason the collaboration with H&M is more special than others and.... to be perfectly honest I didn’t expect this from Donatella but... It is great she is presenting her brother’s work in such a manor.
Versace has always had a HUGE celebrity following and one of the most well known fashionista’s of Italy “Anna Dello Russo” has recently stepped out in Versace for H&M dress, Versace Sunglasses and boots – PLUS a vintage Versace belt. The dress retails for $299 and looks (in the words of Alex Perry) VERY EXPENSIVE....

The advertising campaign, featuring Versace favourites Daphne Groeneveld, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Lindsey Wixson, and Sasha Pivovarova — all blonde, which is the personification of Versace’s rock’n’roll style... The campaign was styled by Joe McKenna and photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, which explains everything... I love each ad because they aren’t just an advert – they are more like pages from a prestige editorial.

The collection showcases Versace’s influence on fashion and popular culture. The womenswear and menswear pieces are quintessentially Versace and simultaneously youthful enough for H&M. From blue-green tropical print, chunky gold accessories, fringing and the black dress pinned in gold are all the epitome of the Versace style and they are now affordable to the masses. PLUS... for the men... I have always loved a man in pink, or baby blue, or even print, or in FULL leather – whether he is straight or gay – having the confidence to pull off a “Versace look” from head to toe is SO VERY SEXY...

The full Versace For H&M lookbook features below... The best part (and to be honest the most surprising part) about the collection is that pieces begin from $19.95 for the costume jewellery up to $299 for a leather jacket and the studded leather dress Anna Dello Russo wore. Also included in the collection for the first time is home wears, including pillows from $29.95 and a bedspread, at $149 BEYOND AMAZING...

Before I finish my post – who else should we hear from – but the designer her self – DONATELLA!!

“The collection for H&M is the essence of Versace,” Donatella Versace stated.
“For the collaboration we’ve brought back from the archives, as well as from more recent collections, some of the icons of Versace, such as the bright prints, the Greek key, and daring cuts. I can’t wait to see how H&M’s wide audience will make these pieces their own.”

UN BACIONE!!!
